On a recent visit to Burlington, VT I was at a magical dinner party at the home of Cora Fauser - costume designer extraordinaire, chef extraordinaire, and human embodiment of love extraordinaire. I think I was saying something apologetic about not writing her any letters recently, and she said something like "well you haven't even updated your blog in months, so I don't take it personally." Feels like it's time to update my blog!
(Tara - who has stage managed all three of the LNT shows I've been in, and who I was co-directing the youth camp with, was also there, as well as talented actor/great host in his own right John, and talented actor/eye brow waggler extraordinaire Orion. We talked of many things, and also sang most of the Fiddler on the Roof score. I haven't sung most of the Fiddler on the Roof score since that rainy day at the zoo when Lorna and I switched puppets and sang every song from Fiddler on the Roof!)
This was during my week-long visit to Vermont to, as mentioned, co-direct The Rules of Comedy with Tara. Having worked with Tara so many times in the past, but never getting to spend enough time with her, this was a real treat for me. And we were both so proud of the level of work we got out of our cast of young hooligans! Margo, who directed Midsummer, stepped in to help with Shakespeare coaching, as did Kim. It makes me really happy that I was able to see Kim and Kathleen and catch up with them - both during that week, and during an earlier visit they made to NYC. I also got to spend some really nice time with the Hartmanns - really great to catch up with them and meet some new friends, too!
I just (tonight) moved into Ora's apartment (two month sublet)! We will either be very productive, or we will spend all of our time creating an elaborate april fool's prank that makes all of Brooklyn question reality. We're waiting a little while before announcing this on www.doppelskope.com, but we're going on a tour of New Mexico in June!! It looks like the itinerary will include performing in Albuquerque, teaching in Santa Fe and performing in Penasco. Special thanks to Poki of Button Wagon for getting this all started!
Next week we're shooting for Brandon's indie film project, Waystation in the Stars. Attended my first rehearsal this morning - really nice cast and crew! Brandon runs a fun ship.
